| **アラバマ州マジソンという小さな町でのPersaCon2004。GW期間中に開催されたこの小さなイベントを私が知ったのは
昨年のことでした。5月の連休期間中、最低限七日間以上の休みが所得できることを確認した私が偶然ネットで見つけたのがPersaCon!
規模の小さいイベントはアニメオアシスで経験済みなので今回も楽しい経験ができることを期待して現地に行くのを楽しみにしていました。 お気に入りの航空会社、ユナイテッド航空はハンツビル(イベント会場に近い空港)に行くフライトがない為、ジョージア州アトランタで車を借りて 開催場所のアラバマ州マジソンへ。でも天候は曇り空で今回借りたコンバーチブルの屋根も長時間開くことができませんでした。ちなみに写真の車を 借りようと提案したのは同行者のSnoopで彼との旅行は昨年のボイス以来1年振り。でアトランタ市内及びマジソン市内は私がハンドルを握りましたが 往復の行程の殆どはSnoopが運転。でも速度超過だよー。40マイルオーバー！(本当は全行程Snoopが運転したいとのことでしたが方向音痴の為断念した 次第。) **イベント会場のラマダインに着いたのが午後3時くらい。まずホテルにチェックイン、でそのあとハンツビルまで買い物に。夕方近くになってから 紫亜、湖太郎でコスプレ登録及び翌日のコンテストの情報集め。でここで驚いたのは主催者が高校生だということ。彼女は日本から来た私達を 暖かく迎えてくれました。ただこの日は疲れていたのであまり活動できませんでした。 **翌朝、あまり眠れなかったSnoopを置き去りにして小星で会場へ。何人かからぴたテンって声を掛けてもらいました。一通り写真を撮ってから 美紗の正装に着替えてこの町の一番の観光名所宇宙センターへ。HP用の写真を撮影。その後、午後8時からのマスカレード(コスプレコンテスト)の準備。 そして無我夢中で臨んだ本番。多くの人からの拍手喝さい。日本から大きな荷物を持ってきて本当に良かったと感じた瞬間です。参加者の皆さんに感謝！ 本当は閉会式まで参加したかったのですが(日本人の休暇は少なすぎる！)泣く泣く荷物の整理。そうして翌朝、午前5時にPersaConに別れを告げました。 **日本に帰国してからもう一度PersaConのホームページを見てみると、コスプレコンテストの受賞者の中に私の名前がありました。とても嬉しくて その後、多くの友人にメールを送信してしまいました。やっぱり何かしら表彰されるのって気分がいいですもんね。 |
****PersaCon 2004 was held in Madison,Alabama,U.S.A. I got an information about this small convention which held
in the Japanese Spring vacation(29th April - 5th May) in the cosplay website. I have been to a small convention in Boise,Idaho(Anime Oasis
2003),so I expected to have wonderful time there. One of my favorite airlines,UA has no flight to Huntsville-Alabama(closest airport from the convention center) so I had to fly to Atlanta via Chicago/Ohare and drive to Madison! It was a long trip from my home,Osaka to Madison.(15 hours for flights and other 4 hours for drive). I rent a compatible car at Atlanta,however I had a bad weather. I often had shower! It's useless in the rain! Also Snoop,my companion drove too fast! 40 miles over! Uhhh! (He has got no sense of direction, so I could prevent him to drive in the city. ****I arrived Ramada Inn(convention center) at 15:00. I went a shopping centre to get something I forget to bring from home after I check in.After that I went to the door for registration with Shia costume. At the door,I was surprised because the organizer,Miss Lauren Cullen was a teenager. I and Snoop were warmly welcomed by her and other stuff. ****Next day, I left Snoop(He couldn't sleep at night)in the bed, and walk around with Koboshi costume.Some cosplayers know that I was doing a character from Pita-ten.(In Boise,only one person realized my character!) I understood that Pita-ten had become a big name in U.S. I took many pictures at convention until Snoop got up. In the afternoon, I went to Space center,a famous spot in Huntsville with Misha's formal wear.(To take photo for my home page) Back to Hotel around 17:00, I prepared for Masquerade(Cosplay contest)which started at 20:00! I brought so many luggages for this event.I was worried that my sense of humor was accepted by American. However my anxiety was nonsense. The audience applauded to my performance.Thanks a lot! I would like to stay full weekend and attend the closing ceremony,but I had to leave in the Sunday early morning.(Japanese vacation is too short!) And I left Madison at 05:00 and back to Atlanta to catch my flight(12:00 EST) to Chicago/Ohare. ****After I came back to Japan,I checked home page of PersaCon,and I found that I and Snoop got a prize!(Best of overall) I was very happy indeed,so I sent E-mail to friends as many as possible.Finally thanks to everyone who attend PersaCon.I and Snoop had nice time there! ****by yoko**** |
