暑い、暑い、暑いよお。暑がりな私にとって今年の猛暑はかなり堪えてます。(現在進行形)！で会社がお盆休みを取る 8月の１週間を使って避暑に行くことに。で例のごとくネットを覘くとあった、ありました。8/14,15にビクトリア州メルボルンで開催されるManifest2004！オーストラリアは 真冬のはず。暑い日本を脱出する良い機会じゃないですか？ただ航空券代が高いこの時期、かなりの出費を覚悟しなくてはなりませんが。(お財布、大丈夫なんだろうか!)
　シドニーで知人と会ったあとメルボルンに着いたのは金曜日のお昼前。この前ここを訪問したのは14年前。時間が経つと色々変わるもんですね。コンベンションの登録は その日の夕方から始まるのでまずは市内観光。でその後、会場のメルボルン大学へ。ただそこの敷地がかなり広くてかなり迷ってしまいました。構内の何人かに聞いてみたんですが 誰もコンベンションのことを知らなくて。途方に暮れていたところ向こうから日本語を話す二人組を発見。日本人じゃなかったけどね。(もしかしたらと思って聞いてみたところちょうど登録したばかりとのこと。彼らに案内してもらってなんとか登録所にたどり着くことができました。
土曜日、コンベンションの初日、小星で行くことに。ホテルから会場までは歩いて20分程。でも天候は雨。ちょっと寒かったです。まず会場で情報収集。オークションの登録、マスカレード の詳細の確認などに時間を割きました。あと今年の１月アニメエキスポ東京で会ったWidyaさんとの再会なんかもありましたね。Rebekahさんにも挨拶しました。で午後１時からマスカレード。このコンベンションでは 土曜日と日曜日の２回あるんですよね。驚きました。その日のコンテスト、様子見ってことで見学者側に。明日は私も参加するので敵情偵察！あと嬉しいことにぴたテンのコスプレイヤー を発見しました。AXではあまり見かけませんでしたからこれは嬉しい誤算でしたね。で土曜日の夕食はWidyaさんと取りました。一人で食事って寂しいですもんね。
そして日曜日、オーストラリア滞在最終日でもあるこの日は勿論、美紗で参加。まず会場までの移動ですがコンテストに使用する小道具が多くて徒歩での移動を断念。路面電車に 乗ることに。とホテルを出ると今しがた電車がでたばかり。時刻表では次に来るのは３０分後！ちょうどタクシーが通りかかったのでここはこれで行くことにしました。 天気の良い日曜日、最高に良い気分で会場へ。早速数人から写真を取りたいとのリクエスト。美紗の正装人気ありますね。とここで問題発生。デジタルカメラのバッテリーが 切れてしまいました。スタッフの人に頼んで近くのコンビにまで一緒に付いてきてもらうことに。大通りを出ると行きかう何台かの車から口笛とクラクションが。これもしかして 私に対してのリアクション？ふむ、ちょっと複雑な気分。コスプレコンテストではきっちり演技してきました。結果はコスチューム部門１位とロールプレイ部門３位。 わざわざ南半球まで来た甲斐がありました。コンテストの後は閉会式まで地元の人との交流。FF-Xのユウナをやってた女の子が私のこと気に入ってくれました。あとオークション では出品した栞が完売！ちょっとその金額にびっくりしましたね。最後に今回ちょっと心残りはカラオケに参加できなかったことです。飛行機の時間が迫っていたのでこれは仕方 ないですね。まあなにはともあれ有意義な２日間でした。
 　It' too hot! I can't stand anymore in this hot weather with high humidity. I am not fond of Summer season. The high temperature gives a big trial at my work.So I decided to escape from Japan during company's summer vacation.(9 days + 1 pay day off) When I was searching on the web,I got an information of Manifest(Melbourne Anime Festival) in Melbourne,Victoria,Australia on 14 & 15 August 2004. It is mid-winter in Australia! So,this is a big chance to escape from heat island! However we have peak season in Japan,it means I have to pay so much money for air ticket!
After I met my friend in Sydney,I arrived at Melbourne before noon on Friday. It has been 14 years since I visited this garden city. There are so many thing changed. Registration of convention started at 18:00.So,I went for sightseeing and shopping. After I changed my cloth, I went to the University of Melbourne where convention was settled. But its campus was so big,I lost my way. What should I do? Suddenly,I heard two person talking in Japanese. They're not Japanese,but attendants of convention.
It was rained in Saturday. I decided to go as Koboshi.I had to walk for 20 minutes from my hotel to the University. When I got into Manifest 2004, I gave my goods to volunteer staff of auction. And met Widya! (We saw each other at Anime Expo Tokyo 2004!)Also said hello to Ms Rebekah Webb (Manifest 2004 Secretary)At 13:00, I went to main hall to see Masquerade (Cosplay competition)! I was surprised there were 2 competitions which held on Saturday and Sunday! This time, I just watched what's going on. I would attend on Sunday. Then I found Pita-ten cosplayers in Manifest. It was amazing! I went to Anime Expo last month,and could see one cosplayer of Pita-ten.(except my friend) I had to consider volume of attendants. AX 2004 was more than 20,000.Manifest was 1,500! It means many Australian like works of Koge-Donbo!Maybe? Finally, I went to dinner with Widya. It's not fun for me to eat meal by myself.
It's my final day to stay in Australia on Sunday.And I went to convention as Misha.This time,I quited walking to the convention because I had so many things to carry.(All of them were using at Masquerade.) When I left my hotel, I saw a tram had just departed! Next tram was available 30 minutes later. So,I caught Taxi. A driver asked me what's going on! (^^;) It was fine day. It meaned I could got so many pictures! Then I was taken many photo by other attedants.Misha's costume was very popular,didn't it? And I got a small trouble. My batteries of digital camera had gone out,so I asked volunteer staff to go with me. When I was waiking a street,I heard horn and whistle from several cars...At cosplay competition, I did my best,and got the prize of 1st place of costume and equal 3rd place of roleplay.I needed to come all the way to get this results.(^v^)After the competition,I joined many cosplayers to have fun.Everything which I brought to the auction were sold out with high prices.It sounded nice! Yay! Unfortunately,I missed to sing Karaoke,because I had to leave Melbourne at midnight to Osaka via Singapore. But I really enjoyed whole 2 days. Finally, I thank all attendants and volunteer stuff for giving good time at Manifest 2004!
