さてある意味待ち望んでいた日本で最初のアニメコンベンション。私がアニメエキスポ東京の開催を知ったのは去年の３月、 アイダホ州ボイスで催されたアニメオアシスで参加者の一人からの情報でした。そうこれはいい機会の到来です。私の友人に一度、アニメコンベンションの 良さを知ってもらえば海外への遠征も容易に同意してくれるのではという魂胆から参加者を募ることにしました。 私自身の予定を立て始めたのが去年の10月くらいからです。まずホテルの予約。サンシャインプリンスホテルを確保。当初、3日間全てに参加する つもりだったのですが仕事との調整がうまくできずに土曜日のみの参加に。でせっかく自分の友人達を巻き込む(笑)のですから何かしら記憶 に残るものをということで参加が決まったのがマスカレード(コスプレコンテスト)への参加です。このマスカレード(=直訳は仮装舞踏会)はアニメ コンベンションのメインイベントなのです。決まった出し物はぴたテンの主題歌「Wake up Angel」を歌詞の通りに演技。サークル名は「Blind Angel」 で事前登録。マスカレードで使用する大道具、小道具は当初、市販の物を加工するつもりでしたがさいこさんのアドバイスで巨大化することに。 (マスカレードの内容は最終ページにまとめてます。) コンベンションの内容ですがロサンゼルスのイベントとはかなり異なる内容に なってしまいました。前述のサンシャインプリンスホテル以外からのコスプレ来場は禁止。そして規制は殆どコミケと同じレベル！これでは 同人誌販売のないコミケ＝特徴のないイベントそのものでは？スタッフの人とも話しましたが殆どの参加者が開催地に拘らないのならば地方の リゾートホテルを借り切っての開催も考慮すべきではとのことでした。

This is the first anime convention in Japan which I was waiting for.I got an information of this convention from a participator of Anime Oasis 2003 at Boise Idaho.It's a good chance,isn't it? If I bring my friends of cosplayer,and they can enjoy a different American style,they will be easily to join Anime Convention at U.S.A. So I tried to look for cosplayers to go to Anime Expo Tokyo! I have began to coordinate my schedule since October last year. I booked my accomodation at Sunshine Prince Hotel.I would like to stay full weekend,however I can't do that because of my work! This is the time to do something with my friend! It must be unforgettable! So, I decide to join "Masquerade"(Cosplay Contest)! It's the main event of anime convention. (I will introduce what happened in "Masquerade" in last page of this report!) About the convention,it is totally different from Anime Expo in Los Angeles.Japanese organizer bring so many regulation which is same as Comic Market! This is nonsense! Nothing comes from regulation! I told one of the main staff about it.He agree my opinion! I tell him that we can have the anime convention of U.S.style in Japan at local city to rent whole resort hotel unless the most of participators mind where the convention will be held!
